6/22/2023 0 Comments Winter wonders drive thruIt was a drizzly night, so we figured some of the activities would be closed, but knew that the drive-thru Light Spectacular display and the Schelleville Christmas Village would still be open. This year we decided to stop at Winter Wonderfest on our way home from the Delaware Beaches. I would recommend and we will be back next year. I would have been a 5 star event IF event staff had returned messages and provided the option to purchase additional activity books for additional children. It only took about 15 minutes to drive through the experience. However, they still provided a safe, enjoyable, socially-distanced holiday event that could be enjoyed by all from the comfort of their car. There was no Schellville Village for the children to play in, food tents, carnival rides, ride on Schellville Express OR ice skating. This year the activities were limited compared to previous years. I would recommend for a nice family holiday experience. Overall, we had a nice visit with Winter Wonderfest. The red Coastal Christmas Tree pickup truck was at the exit. Once we exited the Santa tent area, we proceeded down a lane lined with huge lighted candy canes and passed the Christmas tree lot. Children could hand off letters to Santa here if they had them prepared. He spoke to the children, wished us a Merry Christmas and thanked us for visiting Winter Wonderfest. Once we pulled up, Santa spoke to us through a loud speaker system. A lighted float trailer was on the right with Santa's sleigh. Claus were in a tent on the left with the Schellville Train. As we neared the end of the lane, we entered an area where Santa & Mrs. Each home had little gnomes standing out in front of them. Along the path they had several lighted Christmas trees and little gnome homes. As we drove along the road, we passed lighted displays of aliens, lighted trees, a lighted tunnel or two, lighted archways, toy soldiers, a Christmas church, a huge Christmas tree, a character playing basketball, a snow igloo castle, jumping gingerbread men, a gingerbread house, Santa's sleigh & reindeer, rocking horses and elves.Īfter we passed through the last lighted tunnel, we entered into Santa's village. All across the open field you could see large light up holiday structures. Once we got through the woods, we went under another archway that led us into the lighted display field. Only downside was that the wooded area was rather small, so it did NOT last long. The white speckled lights on the trees almost looked like it was snowing. There were laser lights flashing and dancing among the trees to the music. Once through the gates, we entered through a holly and holiday bow archway, passing into a small wooded area. We were then instructed to tune our radio to the corresponding radio station & to enjoy the show. I would have gladly paid a few dollars so they could each have one. I think they should have provided one activity book per child or at least offered more for purchase at an additional fee. So, all the children in the family basically had to share the one book. We were given ONE activity book per vehicle. We were given one postcard per child that they could use to write a letter to Santa. Staff inquired as to how many children were in the car. We decided just to drive over to the field and purchase admission at the gate. We messaged the host, but got NO response! We looked at purchasing tickets in advance online, but had questions about ticketing. We decided to head over to Winter Wonderfest again this year for their holiday lights display.
